I went to the gym yesterday afternoon, after going to see the Nats lose yet another game to the sub .500 Reds. At least it was a nice day sitting in the sun at the stadium, and not sitting at my desk in the office! I haven't been keeping up to date with my training very much lately. Unless you consider training to be lifting my right arm up to my mouth with a 12 ouncer in it. I have been working on perfect that move! So, I get to the gym, head up to the locker room and there are a ton of lockers whose doors are just sitting open. I get changed, throw my stuff into one, and then just swing it shut. Well, I look at the door just as it slams shut and I see a lock already on the locker! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I thought it was just on the door, but not locked, so I go to take it off and it is stuck. I sat there for a couple of seconds, not knowing what to do. I looked back at the door and noticed that it was locker number 18. Now, if any of you know me well, you know that 18 is my favorite number!! This was such a blow to my system, I just couldn't imagine that my 18 would screw me like this.
At this point, I decided I would go ahead and do my workout to try to reduce the stress of realizing my phone, wallet, keys, etc. were trapped in locker number 18. I stopped off at the desk first, to see if they had any insight into fixing my problem, and the woman there said she was new and was the only one around, so she couldn't offer any help. This just added fuel to the fire brewing inside of me. We called the manager, but didn't have any luck reaching him. After working out, I went back up to the locker room to think about what to do. I decided that my only course of action would be to rip open the locker, if I could. I grabbed at the bottom, which wasn't fully closed and pulled as hard as I could! Much to my surprise, the locker released and I went flying backwards! I got up, amazed that I could finally get to my stuff, and then hopped in the shower, very relieved! That's what I get for taking so much time off from my training.
