A Day on the Boat

On Monday the 26th, some friends who have a place on the west coast of FL came over to visit us on the east coast for the day. We alternate this every year. Last year we went over to Sanibel to visit them. It was a beautiful day, a bit windy with a chill in the air, but it was clear. My aunt and uncle keep a boat down here and they had just put it in the water for the season. It is about 26 feet and has a small cabin with a galley and a v-berth. The 8 of us went out for a ride on it to have lunch and do some sight-seeing.

We left the dock and headed along the Intercoastal Waterway, checking out all the huge houses and big yachts that line the water. It is always fun to see the houses from the water because it gives you a much different view than from the land. This house and the 5 acres surrounding it just sold for $50 million. The wind was coming from the west, so since the ocean was nice and calm, we decided to head out the inlet into the ocean for a bit. There are plenty of nice big houses on that side of the island as well!

As we were headed out the inlet, there was a huge carrier ship coming into port bring some nice new sport fishing boats. Too bad they weren’t delivering one to us! Once we got out in the ocean, we broke out the fixings and made some sandwiches for lunch. We cruised past the house which Trump bought last year and is having one of his “Apprentice’s” manage the construction going on. I don’t think it’s a very attractive place though… But I think he is awful anyway.

After enough ocean cruising we headed back into the Intercoastal to check out some more boats and new construction going on in the area. In one of the marinas, we ran across the boat of my favorite singer!! Unfortunately, he was not out on it. By this time, it was getting late, so we headed back to the dock, where we saw this little creature on one of the boats. It was a great time had by all. I need to get my own boat now so that I can go out whenever I want to!!
