I had a nice relaxing weekend home in Pittsburgh with my parents. My plan was to head home Friday morning and stop off near Hagerstown, MD to do some mtn. biking at Greenbrier St. Park on the way. However, the weather decided not to cooperate with me. It wasn't raining when I left DC, but the radar showed a huge patch of green on the way. By the time I got to Rockville, it was already starting to come down. I was happy that I decided against riding.
I still stopped off at the park to check it out and get some details since I hadn't been there before. It seems like a pretty cool place to bike, so one of these days I'll have to make it back up there. I continued on home and made it in time to change and get ready to go to dinner and then to the Banff Film Festival. There were some good films, but also a few that really dragged. One of my favorites was a mock-umentary about the Mountian Village in Telluride. It was hilarious!
The next day we just hung around, enjoyed the nice weather, helped do some setting up for the Wedding shower that night, and threw the softball around a little. The Wedding shower was fun. It was good to see people and meet some friends of the bride and groom. We decided that we would not go to church this year, and that didn't really bother me too much. As a Catholic Lite, we don't have the guilt that the true Catholics have. We went to brunch with some good friends and then eventually I took off and made my way back to DC.
I am excited about tonight! It is the first game of our spring softball league. I was a little worried that I might not be able to get enough people for the team, but I have a whopping 15 people coming tonight and a few more that are willing to play if we need them. I think it will be fun! It might take a little bit to get back into the swing of things, but I think we'll be fine. Since I am organizing the team, I got the opportunity to name the team. You'll never guess what it is!! The Land Sharks!!
