Since the Penguins have been on a tear, gaining at least 1 point in the last 13 games, I have been trying to ignore the big, huge elephant in the room, or city as it may be. There is still the real possibility that the Pens could move, and Kansas City seems to be the front runner. I am going to continue to do my best to ignore this fact while I watch them play some great hockey, but I just wanted to pass along this article that was written by a KC sports writer on the topic of sports teams leaving cities. I found what he had to say was very interesting...

I am a Kansas city sports fan and would love to watch a hockey team that would woop ass like the penguins do. I agree with Joe Posnanski in saying that penguins history would mean nothing here in KC. We have had no hockey world here since my old man and I used to sneak in Rosedale barbeque into the KC Blades game at kemper arena. The tradition of hockey would not stop and would certainly be supported in KC. We would only be so lucky to inherit such a team. Especially when compared to Nashville, which has been in the hunt for the beuatiful sprint center. I've seen the pictures, its amazing. We may be the used group in the Pittsburgh deal, but any team who claimed this stadium would be just as lucky to receive Kansas City, as Kansas City would be to receive the Penguins.
I completely understand that the tradition of hockey, etc. would flourish in KC, and that you all there would be really happy to be the beneficiaries of a team, but having spent my 28 years as a Pens fan, it is very sad to watch this.
I think Nashville would be much better off there, because they don't have the home town support that the Pens do. Look at how many sell-outs we have had at the Igloo this year versus in Nashville.
